Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid

Specs: Windows 7

Whenever I try to connect Windows XP with Windows 7 I get an error
"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

I have tried a lot of tutorials and answers on different forums but could not get the answer.

Please help in this regard

If you get error “Local Area Connection Does not Have A Valid IP Configuration”, you need to look for IP address. If you cannot see an IP address, then you need to assign it manually. You can also take the help of a DHCP server to fix this error. If you are using a DHCP server to assign IP address; then you need to enter some commands to assign the system with an IP address. At first, you need to type ‘ipconfig/release’. Then, you need to type ‘ipconfig/renew’. Finally, enter ‘ipconfig/all’ and get an IP address.
