Solved limit the internet speed of one system in my home network.

March 7, 2013 at 08:59:56
Specs: Win 7 64, 4
In my home We have 3 pcs.

1. my personal PC1
2. home or general PC2
3. wireless PC (not important here.)

so PC1 and PC2 are connected directly to internet via this

http://www.tp-link.in/products/deta...

modem router. I have full control over everything and I did setup the whole thing.

We have a limited bandwidth internet plan, but a lot of bandwidth is easily used up by PC2.

I want to limit the speed of internet access on that PC2 so that downloading becomes impossible or difficult. ( I am doing this for every ones good, but I just cant tell him ( my younger brother) directly to stop downloading, he just wont listen)

Is there an easy way or any way at all to accomplish what I said?

Thanks in advance

page 32 has the QoS

I am not seeing a control by port of kbps. Bummer.

Review the routers manual and the section about QoS in particular. There should be a screen that allows you to set the kbps rate per port.

hmm.. kind of promising but.. I am confused with the terms used there, I am new to these stuff, and the manual thinks I am an expert, it says funny things like

"•Type of Service Remarking: Select the type to remark the service
•Destination MAC & IP & Mask & Port Range: Enter the IP information about the
Destination host for the rule.
• Source MAC & IP & Mask & Port Range: Enter the IP information about the Source
host for the rule"

So I think I will get support from you.

If you need further details of other system like ip adress etc, I can provide it to you tomorrow morning. Its midnight here and everyone in my home are sleeping.
