Specs: Windows 7, 16GB
got a laptop that used to connect to a routers wifi.
it won't connect any more?

laptop does not get an ip from router.
set ip manually and while it seems to connect it does not get any internet from the connection.
laptop never identified the 'connection'.

tried a mobile phone to connect to the wifi,it did and had internet so did a desktop.
tried connecting laptop to a different wifi network,it did and had internet.

used a lan cable and that worked fine with original router.
uninstalled wifi adapter from devices, reinstalled but still no.

so am unsure which is the problem?
router does not like wifi adapter or vice versa.

have done a netsh reset but have not been back to test it yet.
looking for other things to either reset or check before I go back to the original router which is at another address.

I've known routers get in a tizz with just one item - cured (surprisingly) by turning router off for about 30 seconds. Maybe there is someone there who can try it.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Some laptops have an on/off button on the keyboard for Wireless.

problem doesn't seem to be router as a desktop and a mobile phone were able to connect and access internet.
doesn't seem to be laptop as it's on a different wifi network and accessing/updating with no problems.

will reset the router and see if that works when I get back to it.
if the netsh reset hasn't worked that is.

The point I was trying to make in #1 is that I have known it work when just one item was playing up. It might not help this time but it is still possible.

Had tried the turn off but that didn't work.
Did the reset pin hole and that worked
