Laptop not connecting to the Internet

Specs: Windows XP
Hi there,

We are in Toronto and have a Toshiba Satellite notebook which used to connect to the wireless and the LAN. However, more recently it has not connected at all. It has to do something with the computer Norton Software conflict as we were told by Rogers (our service provider). Another laptop being used in the house works flawlessly. This "other" laptop is not using any of Rogers Antivirus and has its it is basically just connected to the wifi.

We have, based on our NSPs advice, uninstalled the Norton Security software provided by Rogers and are now trying to uninstall another OLD Norton program (we plan on reinstalling the Rogers Antivirus once we uninstall both the old and new AND are connected to the internet). We were told the OLD Norton Antivirus can be removed by going to However, we cant even get on the internet right now. The laptop in question shows its connected to the wireless network but wont connect. I even tried doing it the old fashioned way by putting in the LAN cable but it still doesnt connect.

In an attempt to get connected, we went to START/RUN/MSCONFIG, then selected the selective Startup and the Normal Startup but none of this has worked.

Very confused and frustrated. Would love for someone to help...

Thank you for another opportunity to say how much I dislike Norton. It's the worst.

Maybe you can download the removal tool on a working network, burn it to a CD & install it that way.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.
