Specs: Windows Vista, intel core 2 duo
Hi guys, I need your help please,

I have a laptop that I want to sell, therefore I went to somebody to see my laptop and wanted to connect to his wifi. After repeatedly entering the pass for the wifi ,the wifi was still not connecting .

1. My laptop will see his wifi but after entering the pass will not connect
2. The pass is correct because I introduced the same pass on my mobile and I was able to connect to his wifi through my mobile
3 My laptop wifi is working fine because when I went home it connects automatically on my home wifi
4. I tried to open and close his router but I faced same problem.

any suggestions please ??

many thanks

It could be the wireless encryption standard being used by his router that isn't compatible with your laptop's wireless adapter.

Broadly speaking, the three main encryption standards are WEP, WPA, and WPA2, with WEP being the oldest encryption standard of those three.

Many older wireless laptops can only recognise WEP wireless keys.
Less older ones might recognise a WPA key but not a WPA2 key.

If that's the reason for the problem, the router may have to be reconfigured so that's it's using WEP wireless encryption. Be aware however that WEP encryption is the easiest standard to hack into.

phill, many thanks
from what I understood, it seems there is a conflict between his router and my leptop wifi adaptor is it ?

that been the case, I belive is the other way around meaning that his router is older and being able to encript on WEP only ?
I'm saying that because the CD for router drivers is nly for Windows XP and my laptop is actually windows 7 ( sory for my prevous wrong information)

in this case the router can be reconfigured or is just easier to buy another router?

the conclusion is that if this guy will not replace his router he might not be able to get wifi on any new laptops in future is it ?
