LAN port doesn't turn on after installing Windows 8

Dell / 5220

Specs: Dual Boot wndows 7 & 8, 4GB
My PCI Ethernet LAN port seems dead after dual booting my dell Inspiron 5220 (Windows 7 Home Basic & Windows 8 PRO) and now LAN port is not detecting any plugged cable both and also not even in Linux live. In both OS network card driver is alright.
Most searches over the internet opened up deep sleep mode as a reason of such failures. Is it so ? Then how to disable it? Or i have to change my LAN port ?

You may need a different set or drivers for your your Windows 8 installation, certainly at least the Windows 8 installation does not 'see' the drivers installed on the Windows 7 installation. Some Windows 7 drivers may work with Windows 8, but do not count on it always being the case. If Dell does not specifically list Windows 8 driver for the LAN but all of your other drivers work (chipset, video, etc.), you may very well end up purchasing a new LAN card that does have Windows 8 driver (check their website first for the download before purchasing) available and use that card for both W7 & W8.

I am assuming that you looked in Device Manager for details, uninstall the device, and allow Windows to reinstall it after installing the new driver.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If it's working in Windows 7 then the issue has to be with Windows 8.

If it's not working in either OS, ensure you have it enabled in the BIOS.

Sorry, I can't tell you where to look in the BIOS for the "enable onboard LAN" setting. I would suggest you just look through all parts of the BIOS and you're sure to find it.

If it's already enabled in the BIOS and not working in either OS, then it may be broken.
