hi,

Skeeter here and i have a question about my network. I have a hp laptop, win7, belkin n+ router and at&t dsl. I was able to configure all for wireless and also have an additional older hp laptop which i use with the wireless connection. the problem is if i don't use my laptop for a few hours the internet connection is dropped and i have to reset my dsl router and my belkin or both before connection is made again. Is there something eles i need to do to keep this from happening?

Does this happen to only one laptop, or both?

If one, the issue is most likely with that laptop.

If both, then click on my name above in my response and read my "how-to" guide on troubleshooting wireless issues.

Hi Curt,

thank you for your response. The problem occurs with the laptop that i used to configure the dsl and router with ethernet cable. i used to have a linksys G and this did not happen with this router. only the belkin n+. As long as i am using the internet it stays up just fine. Its only after about 8-12 hrs of not connecting to the internet does the connection then drop and i have to reboot the router or dsl modem or both.

Ok, as I said, if it's just the one laptop, then the issue is likely with that laptop.

I would start by ensuring you have the most up-to-date drivers for the wireless NIC on the problem laptop.

oh i also need to add that i can hook my old linksys wireless g router and it works just fine with the same laptop. I only began experiencing this problem when i switched to belkin n+ wireless router.

Check to see what channel the Belkin is set to, as it sounds like you are having interference problems with a 2.4 wireless phone. Try setting it to channel 1 to see if that corrects the problem. HTH
