ipconfig/all wont work from the c:promt

Specs: Windows XP
I go into C:\ ipconfig/all but it comes up with a device is missing go to microsoft support, but cannot find anything there either.

is a nic installed and is tcp/ip installed?

Dont know what nic is but tpc/ip is ticked

nic = network interface card

You may have a winsock error then due to a malware infection.
