iPad Password problems

Apple Ipad 3g 64gb tablet

Specs: Windows 7
I can't connect my iPad to my Netgear wireless router. It shows the network name, but says my password is invalid. The password is working on my MacBook. I'm using WEP.

I know telling you this might seem a little stupid but you have to check and check again that both passwords are the same including spaces/caps etc etc.

You could try removing the WEP and try and if it works then you know for sure its just a password problem
remember to put it back on again and make sure both passwords match exactly.

Thanks. I was very careful, although Apple says that you have to input passwords s..l...o..w...l...y :)

I'll try the WEP thing, and I have NETGEAR tech support working on the problem. I'll update when I know more, thanks.

With WEP there is a key sequence number from 1 to 4.
Not sure whether the iPad has a limitation on it's wireless capability but I know my kids' DSs can only operate on key #1

Agreed. I have mine set for key #1. No further word from NETGEAR as of yet, but will update when I know more. Thanks!

Hi, Everyone.

Here's my update from NETGEAR. I reset my security from WEP to WPA-PSK, and my wireless devices connected instantly. Woo hoo! Thanks for your advice, and I hope this helps other people, too.

I'd also like to say that the tech support (free) from NETGEAR was fabulous--thorough and VERY FAST. I'd buy again.

Oh, one other thing. My channels were set to "auto," and NETGEAR recommended 1, 6, or 11.

"recommended 1, 6, or 11."

Never use 1 or 11 because they are at the edge of the band abd thus the weakest. I always recommend 9 because it is one of the channels your neighbors will probably never use.

To: Laura F from Laura G
Thanks for sharing your information. It fixed my issue with getting my IPAD to recognize my Netgear modem wireless connection. Whoooie!

Hi LauraF,
I just wanted to give you the courtesy of letting yo know how much your post about the iPAD and the Netgear router helped me! Bravo!

Thank you for taking the time to help the rest of us. You just saved me somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 because my warranty with Netgear had expired.

Here's hoping you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
