Solved IP leased time and losing connection

October 19, 2011 at 15:21:03
Specs: Windows Vista
I have remote access as I work at home on a government laptop that has Entrust( for security). My IP lapse time is set for 1 hour and every hour I am losing full connection due to having to sign back into Entrust. I need to be able to lenghten my lapse time on my work computer. My other two personal computers are fine with 1 hour as there is no Entrust on either of those laptops.....is it possible for me to change the lapse time to say 12 hours, 1 weeks, whatever?? Thanks

The lease time is defined by the DHCP server that provided you with the IP address. You have no control over this. Normally the computer would renew the lease before it expires. You really should contact your IT department about this issue.

I do not have my own router and I have an Internet Provider named Eastlink. I do believe where my problem is is that I need to have constant connection as each time my lapse time comes up I loose my Entrust Security connection....thus the computer cannot reconnect automatically as does my personal computer. So perhaps it is an internal IT issue with Entrust, however my peers work at home and they do not have this issue. Thanks so much for all the help......

Looks like you need to contact your IT dept. Doesn't appear there is anything we can help you with.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
