Invalid subnet mask on Windows 7

Specs: Windows 7
I'm setup on DHCP, I receive the correct IP range and default gateway however the wrong subnet mask. I'm receiving instead of; any suggestions in why this is happening. I cannot manually configure the tcp/ip settings to the correct information as though I'm on a business network that does not hold ip address and may have a ip address conflict with another user. Is there anything I can do to correct the subnet mask issue?

I take it you have no access to the dhcp server?

Why aren't you talking to the your business network admin? It would appear dhcp is misconfigured for your station perhaps they are doing a ip reservation.
