Internet Explorer-Word Pad

Microsoft Windows 7 professional 64-bit

Specs: Windows 7
Internet Explorer-Word Pad now has control over anything I try to open, even email. I went out to the Internet to find a program that would open a file that windows couldn't. I chose Word Pad and it opened the file with HTML geek. Now after deleting it and rebooting it still comes back to life. I may have changed a setting somewhere.

Open Explorer, not internet explorer. Go to tools, properties, file types. That's where the file associations are listed. Change whatever you need to change.

I'm using another PC to get out to the web due to the problem. Your suggestion didn't work because Word Pad opens Explorer in the geek format. However I did go to Control Panel-Default Programs-Set Associations and there the default to open programs can be changed. However that's the current default so don't know what it should be. It appears Word Pad is now the default for Explorer, Internet Explorer, Windows media player, and Eudora, my email program, plus everything else that's on the desktop when clicked shows properties for that Icon and not to open it.

If you don't know how to change it, try a restore point.
