internet explorer 7

Specs: Windows XP, P4 3.8 GHz/2 GB
Ethernet connection using an ethernet/usb converter. Although I have an ethernet socket on my computer, I cannot get into the Internet. ? no driver. I can get into the Internet using the ethernet/usb converter.
Although I can get most Web Sites that I have tried, I cannot get into any Site for Microsoft nor Symantec. I have used Google. It gives the various Sites but will not open them. I get the blue lettering saying cannot get the Site. I have disabled Fire Walls (I had 2). No difference. Why can't I get into Microsoft or Symantec please? Thank you very much.
Barrie.

Can you test it with Firefox? Disable the other adapters. The USB adapter should work without a problem. I just setup a wireless USB for a customer & I use one on my laptop that runs FreeBSD.

Many thanks for replies.
My real concern is that I cannot get into Microsoft nor Symantec. I can get into all my other Web Sites. I have tried with Fire Wall disabled. Could there be anything else blocking the Web Site? Many thanks,
Barrie.

Look for restricted sites in the privacy tab in internet options or there could be malware blocking the sites.

Download, updtate & run anti malware from malwarebytes.org
