Internet connectivity?

Specs: Windows 7
Ok, so I recently received a Siemens SE567 Modem/router and I've been waiting about a week so far to get my internet connected, Telus has said many times that they can't connect my internet remotely and a tech. has to be dispatched and either flip a switch at their centre(not the case in this instance) or that they will have to come into my home and tweak the modem settings so I get the optimum performance out of my internet connection. I have about another week to wait on this and I'm getting impatient. Can I just connect it myself? Every time I turn it on and plug it in, I get the power bar and WAN port 1-4 lights on and the DSL light will blink a couple times every few seconds. I try the login but it says 'Username Required'. Can this be bypassed or do I HAVE to wait for the tech. to come in and do it themselves?

Have you got a manual with your router/modem?
Have you read the manual?
You should be able to connect to the router by lan cable.
Then open your favorite web browser and type in the ip address of the router.
You have to configure the router with the correct authentication data, if required.
Your provider should have send you the data, tneeded to authenticate with your ISP.

I have the thing brand new. It came with a start up read me first manual thing and I followed it step by step. I even logged in and tweaked with stuff for a good 30 mins before I came up with nothing. I tried to resolve the issue from the troubleshooter on my network connections and it's saying that the the server is trying to use a dns that doesn't exist and that I have to contact my ISP. I've tried calling multiple times and they keep saying that a tech has to come into my home...

Could you post the output of ipconfig /all of your computer, when connected by lan cable?
