inksys router IP address 192.168.1.1 problem

Specs: Windows XP
My Internet Explorer will not let me connect to 192.168.1.1. Why ?
Internet Explorer says it can not open this page.

Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig /all.

See what it says next to default gateway. If it is anything other than 192.168.1.1 then that's the number you need.

If it is blank then you need to check you network connection to the router.

I notice you typed a full-stop after the last digit of the IP Number.
There should be no full-stop there

What Phil means by a full stop is the last period after the last number on the ip address.
I suspect you were just ending a sentence but in case the ip should look like this
192.168.1.1
not this
192.168.1.1.
