I want to expand the number of available ports on my wireless router/modem. I have an ethernet switch. How do I do that?

You connect the switch to the router appears to be the obvious answer. The "how to" is put a cable between a switch port and a router lan port.

thank you for the feedback.

I've connected them with an ethernet cable, and power is on.

I installed my network printer to an open port on the switch, and it will not print. That makes me think that I need to configure something on my Mac.

You have to install the printer on the MAC as a network printer.
Depending on the printer, you might have to give the ip address of the printer and the tcp port number, it uses.
Normally an ip printer works on port 9100 with an ip of 192.168.x.x.
