i think my router is not allowing my LAN to acess a paticula

September 11, 2012 at 19:22:28
Specs: Windows Vista
I am trying to access one site and none of the computers in my network will go to it. Even if i isolate to one pc, it still will not go to the site. I have a SMC router and have checked internet explorer settings on every pc in the network...it is not just one computer, but all.
I went into SMC settings and see nothing blocked. I have done a hard reset of the router.
ping can not happen to the site by dns or ip, but i can ping other sites (yahoo, facebook, etc), but the site is in fact up because i can bring it up if i am not on my home network and can do an online web ping to it thru networktools.com.

What did you get, when trying to ping networktools.com?
What does a tracert networktools.com show on screen?

You may also try this:
nslookup -q=any networktools.com

Post back some results.

If you're able to connect to any other web site but that one, it's distinctly possible your domain has been blocked from that website.

The website is still accessable.
So what Curt R mentioned, is most likely.

Btw.: What error message did you get?

Is it your own web server?
Cause your name here is the same as the name of the website in question.

I'm able to connect to your website and browse no problem.
I tried a ping by hostname and by IP but get no response. I then tried a traceroute and got the following:

Whatever is at hop 13 is not responding to ICMP requests.

This isn't unusual. There is no law that says you have to reply to ICMP so some of the routers on the internet do not. I suspect in this case, hop 13 is very close to your server if not the actual physical location of the server your website is on.

Anyhow, the site is working so somehow or other your IP address, or entire domain, has been blocked. You may need to talk to whomever admin's that site and see if they can't figure out what's going on with your ability to connect to your website.
