I have a vista connected but an xp that does not show this router. It is connected to another router in the area but not mine. Under network connections and the wireless network tab it lists my router on top and says automatic but will not connect. If i hit view wireless networks mine is not listed. Think maybe you did not configure wireless router or wireless adapter correctly, advise you to take a look on this wireless network troubleshooting tips article, probably could give you more ideas.

My guess is there are two things going on here. Your network is not listed because broadcasting the SSID is turned off in the router. But that's not important.

In order to connect to the router you need the correct settings, including the encryption key.
