I have two jack outlet locations--one in bedroom and one in living room,. Currently I have my desktop PC hooked up in the living room. I now have a Dell Inspiron 600m old laptop in great condition, which I would like to use in my bedroom to stream movies. Is there anyway I can hook up my laptop on this same account without having to buy a new modem and paying for a n ew account each month?

You don't need a new modem. You need a router. Connect from DSL Modem to router then from router to each of the PCs.

Your only other choice requires installing a second network card in the PC and running a second ethernet cable. You would then enable Internet Connection Sharing in the Host PC. Under this arrangement both systems have to be running for the laptop to get internet and streaming movies via such a shared arrangement would probably give very poor results. Buy a router.

You can get a wireless router and set up a wireless network, so that both computers can connect to router wired/wireless and share Internet connection. This is pretty common setup nowadays.

If you are interested, you can take a look on this wireless network setup tutorial, hope can give you more ideas.
