how to connect wireless adapter to router

Specs: win xp home, 996mhz - 512 ram
i can't connect my wireless laptop adapter to wireless router
get message ; windows can't configure this wireless connection

when i go to device manager, i see the following adapters:

1394 net adapter - working properly
intel 8255x-based pci internet adapter (10/100) - working properly
intel 8255x-based pci ethernet adapter (10/100) - odyssey network agent miniport - yellow exclamation point
linksys wireless- n notebook adapter wpc 300n - odyssey network agent miniport - yellow exclamation point
linksys wireless-n adapter notebook adapter wpc300n #2 - working properly
linksys wireless-n notebook adapter wpc300n #2 - odyssey network agent miniport - yellow exclamation point
orinoco wireless lan pc card (5 volt) - odyssey network agent miniport - yellow exclamation point

using linksys 300n wireless n notebook adapter and linksys wrt 160n wireless router

any input appreciated

All those yellow exclamation marks mean that you need to install the appropriate drivers for the device.

You should be able to get the driver from the Linksys web site. You don't need drivers for the router, only the devices directly connected to your computer.

went to linksys and they didn't have a driver listed for my wpc 300n

finally downloaded the drivers i needed - can see router and can enter key, but won't let me choose security type. the only choice is psk2. my router uses wpa2
