I am studying for the A+ Exam and I ran into this question:

How many characters are used in a 64-bit WEP encryption key?

A. 10

B. 12

C. 26

D. 28The correct answer is A...but why?? Thank You

The key part in 64-bit WEP encryption is actually 40 bits long. When expessed as a hexadecimal number this make 10 characters as each hexadecimal character takes 4 bits. The article in Wikipedia will give you a fuller explanation of how it works.

Thank You. Now I understand.
