How does a server sw work after remving LAN

Specs: Windows XP
How does a network software(Like the kind that doesnt allow a user to install programs on a system ) work after the lan cable connecting a system to the network is removed?

Are you talking about disconnecting from a Domain Server that doesn't allow you to install unauthorised software.

In that case disconnecting wont make any difference because the restriction is in the local machines registry. To change that you need to log on with an Administrators password.

Even if you did manage to make the necessary changes, as soon as you reconnected to the Domain Server, the Domain would reverse the changes and you would be out of a job for hacking the companies computer.

Thanks Stuart, that was helpful! Not that I intend doing any of that, It just intrigues me ..ok so if i run a registry cleaner on my local machine, will it work?

Don't run the risk of losing your job just because of curiosity.

If you are connected and you are not the Administrator then doing things that might be acceptable on your own computer will get you shown the door on somebody else's especially running registry cleaners which are know for doing more harm than good.
