How do I set up a second internet connection in my home? Fifty feet between current router and desired remote location. I do not know how to configure a second router. Is this done from a computer wired to the network?

Does your current router not provide wifi connection; and if so is it enabled? That is one way to have an internet connection a reasonable distance away from the router itself.

Are you familiar with the "Homeplug" system? This is series of modules which plug into power outlets. Connect a cat-5/ethernet cable from one of the router ethernet ports to a module plugged into a nearby power outlet. Plug another module near (next?) to where you like the internet to be - and connect that to your computer with another cat-5/ethernet cable.

Job done... No need of a second router - unless special circumstances demand it.

Depending where you are in the world depends which 'Homeplug" modules are available...; there are several brands around these days.

Whereabouts are you?

What make and model router do you have?
