I'm guessing it's a router/modem & you're trying to get in in to the configuration utility - correct?

Every router has a factory default username & password, depending on the manufacturer.

Look in the router's setup booklet, or post make and model on this thread. I've bookmarked your thread but only until tomorrow night.

Don't take too long posting it because I do not usually monitor threads on Computing.net forums.

Look at the back or underside of the router; the default name/password should be on the label. If someone customized the name, password, or both, just use the reset button to return to the defaults. Or look in the user manual as you were instructed. If you don't have the manual, do a google search using the make/model of the router.

Note that after you log in using the default name and password, immediately change both and write the new information in the set up booklet and possibly (if at home) on a stick on label or post-it you can affix under the machine.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

1. Check the label of the router on the back, mostly it has a default user name and password also you could find them in the user manual. If you have not changed it before ;
2. If you have changed and forgot it, could press the reset button on the router. In general , it needs 10-15 second for the router to do factory default setting.
