How do I fix a 169 IP address?

February 21, 2011 at 23:35:59
Specs: Windows XP
I have just reformatted my computer. I installed Netgear WNA1100 and my internet worked instantly, however, after restarting the computer, it failed to connect to the internet. I checked with ipconfig and saw that I was getting an IP address of 169.254.30.44, preventing me from going online. How can I change it to a 192 IP address so I can connect to the internet?

I'm running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed.

When a DHCP-server isnt available your DHCP client gets a APIPA IP-address asigned.

Try to reboot your DHCP-server, this can be a router.
