how do I figure out who hosts my domain name?

May 21, 2012 at 13:25:40
Specs: Windows XP
I know I used to be hosted with godaddy, then I transferred my website to webs.com. Are they now my hosting company? godaddy kept sending me warnings that my domain name was going to expire, but I figured they were just trying to get me back. My website is still up and running, so SOMEONE is hosting it.

you should email webs.com and ask them

Your hosting is separate from your domain registrar. If GoDaddy is emailing you about your domain name, then they are your domain registrar, and webs.com is most likely your web host.

Try putting your domain name into http://whois.domaintools.com/ and see which company is listed under 'registration service provider', they are the ones you should be paying for renewal, as has been said, hosting and registration are different things.
