Specs: Windows 7
I'm trying to map a drive to connect to a shared corporate drive. I'm using Windows 7 Professional. I'm reaching the server and I'm asked for my password, but it shows my user name as MYNAME-PC\username. So when I type in my username and password, I'm told the password is not correct. But I know it is, and these steps worked on my Vista.

sounds like you need to join the workstation to the corporate network.
have you talked to your IT dept?

Yes, but the two people with whom I spoke really didn't know Windows 7. They knew more about XP. I was also able to map the same info to XP. But Windows 7 Professional is acting the same way Windows Home Premium did, as far as linking my COMPUTERNAME-PC\username to the login & password window. I'd like to try it WITHOUT the COMPUTERNAME-PC\ attached to the field. Windows XP and Vista didn't show the window that way.

If you try to access shares at a server, you probably have to use:
YOUR_COMPANIES_DOMAIN_NAME\username

The original poster should always write the last response !!!
Let us know, if the problem is solved !!!

Yes, I would like to try that, but the COMPUTERNAME-PC\ is embedded in the field, and I don't know how to take it off. Thanks for your idea!
