How can I find the IP address of my old home?

November 10, 2017 at 08:43:22
Specs: Windows 10
I have moved home in the last few years and am trying to access an old account I have for a particular website. I have forgotten the secret question and answer, and so am trying to e-mail the support team with the IP address of where I set up the account. This happens to be the IP address of my old home, however, I don't know how I can find this out.

Your ISP might have an old record of it but other than that I doubt your going to find it.

Unlikely a website would ‘t use an IP address as an account reference etc. Websites usually require an email address and/or a snailmail address.

ip addresses as issued by the isp invariably change over time; as the "ease" can be renewed at any time... Power down your system - as in don't use the internet for a wee while - and your assigned ip address will likely change.

Whether or not your isp will have ever kept a record of which it ip addresses it issued to you is moot point; and certainly highly unlikely to have records going back very far?

I agree with trvlr. An IP address is not like a street address. IP addresses change for a number of reasons, such as unplugging the modem/router for a set amount of time (# of hours varies by ISP).

"I have forgotten the secret question and answer"

I find this unlikely. The website provided a question for you to answer - usually relatively simple like favorite pet's name, color of 1st car, city you were born in, etc. I don't see how you wouldn't know the answer.
