So, I just bought a wifi6 router. I'm trying to add wifi6 to my desktop. I just bought pci-e wifi6 adapter. I hadn't opened my computer in a while. I thought there were expansion ports. I guess I was wrong. There are no expansion ports on my motherboard. So, the adapter I bought isn't an option. My existing setup has wifi built in. I just looked at the motherboard. It has a MINIPCIEX1 wifi card on the board. I'm hoping I could replace this card with a wifi6 version. But, so far, I'm not having any luck finding one. Does anyone know where I can find a wifi6 card for a MINIPCIEX1 slot? Or have any other ideas how I could add it to the desktop?

Funny thing I just thought of is.. if there are no upgrade slots on the motherboard, why in the world did asus put pci slot covers over holes that cant be used? Why make the slots at all in the case?

Firstly, I suspect ASUS didn't make that case.......another company did. Putting the slots in means if you put a mobo in with expansion slots, you can use them. Picture the reverse of your situation, a mobo with expansion slots in a case without them. Simpler just to make all your cases with slots then the mobo manufacturers can do whatever they please and your case is equipped to handle it.

If sluc's suggestions aren't what you're looking for, see if they don't make 802.11ax adapters that plugs into a USB port.
