Help needed regarding TP-Link Installation Error

Specs: Windows 7
I have just received TP-Link Router online from this website
TP-Link Routers Online I'm trying to install a TP-Link wireless router. I am using a modem an have a PPPoE connection. I connected the router to the computer and the modem, but in the last step of the Easy Setup it says " Failed to verify router settings. 1. Please check the WAN connection type and parameters. 2. Please check your connectivity and retry."

The internet works fine if i connect the modem directly to the computer. When I connect the computer to the router, the wireless network is detected by other devices, but cannot be accessed.

I accessed the router settings, and everything seems normal, except that it just says "Connecting...". It never manages to connect to the internet. I tried restarting the router and several walkthroughs on the web, but I couldn't get it to work.

Is it a plain simple wifi router (no built-in modem) or is it a model which includes the modem?

The more common device for most domestic situations in an all in one - modem and router combined...

So which model TP link do you have?

With the exact model details we pholks here can likely advise you more fully and successfully.

For set up I find connecting to the router via hard wired cable better than using the Wifi. After it is set up then the Wifi is good for movable machines or those in rooms not wired but for those that can be plugged in, leave them plugged in since it is better, faster, and more secure.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Have you setup the PPPoE on the router WAN configuration? Maybe need to copy your computer MAC address to make it work.
On the PC use a normal DHCP LAN/WIFI adapter setup. Not the PPPoE setup.
