If the router isn't getting internet connectivity it's because you haven't configured the WAN (external) side of it correctly. Knowing absolutely nothing about the type of connection you have, I can't tell you what to do about this. But, your ISP's support people most likely can walk you through setting it up.

I would suggest you reset the D-Link router to factory defaults and connect to it's management interface (both as per the setup guide/manual that came with the router) before calling your ISP's help desk.

okay Curt R

I think I have to reset to factory setting oops ,I forgot !!!,the router was a used router, and my trendnet I reset twice and reconfigured and it works.

my internet connection is this I have a modem that receive internet by wireless link from the ISP ,and always on, if you just plug to any computer the computer receives the IP automatically and it connects to internet easily so.

now if I use Dlink d704p broadband router and just set Ip automatic at Wan , and set dhcp inside , the speed of connection drops down to 1bps, but the isp provide 10mbps, which when connected to a central switch, the switch boosts to 100mbps which is far good, but 1bps from Dlink cause a halt to internet
if you plug trendnet router speed is good no drops it remains same
dar es salaam
