Solved headache trying to view IP cam offsite

hi there

my first post

let me begin by kindly asking you to explain this is brick layer terms as i clearly technically challenged =)

ok ive just setup a dlink IP camera in my office, its connected to a standard adsl modem / router , i can ping, view it fine, no problems.

no i want to be able to view that camera while im overseas or from home, i tried reading up on port fowarding but it just confused me.

all i want to do as mentioned, is to view it while im not at the office,

pls advise of any ideas of what i need to do

you need to know what port your ip camera uses to begin with and log into your router and forard that port with the cameras ip

He means "forward"

You will need to forward the port the camera operates on to the IP of the camera, or if the camera is managed from a PC, to the IP of the PC that contains the camera software.
