Have to restart laptop for internet to work

May 12, 2011 at 07:34:57
Specs: Windows XP

I have a motorola usb modem which is connected to my laptop and i have shared the connection and have an ethernet cable from laptop to wireless modem (TP-LINK) such that other wifi enabled devices can connect to it.

Now we have electricity blackouts and when that happens my wireless router gets turned off. Internet on the laptop is working fine, now when the electricity comes back and the wireless router is on, the net does not work on the other wifi devices and only my laptop (as its directly connected to the modem).

I have to reboot my laptop for the shared connection to work.

Can anyone help me? Why do I have to restart the laptop. The wireless router basically restarts and the net stops working on iPhone, other laptops etc

Please help!

Install a battery backup to keep the connections alive.
