Hi
I have a new laptop and im on broadband connection. I have to reboot after utilising one website because it does not open a 2nd website and says connecting and gives the connecting too numbers 193.0.238.166 isp and then gives the typical black text page - "cannot open the website". im brand new to laptops. just wondered if the advance tab in Tools, Internet Options needs to be changed? tried resetting to default but still same problem. Maybe some boxes need to be unchecked?
Thanks
Danny1234
p.s had to reset home page to computing.net just to post this message. thanks

193.0.238.166 belongs to Acer, so I guess it's an Acer laptop. Run ipconfig /all from a command prompt & post the output.

No you didn't. I said to run ipconfig /all from a command prompt. You ran it from the run box. That's why it disappeared.

start, run, type cmd, press enter, type ipconfig /all, press enter.

hi
i ran your command and all it provides is Windows IP Configuration data and Ethernet adaptor Local Area Connection, just it - is this important?

What I have found is that i was able to relist about 3 items on ebay per session which lasted about 7 minutes, before i was unable to press the submit button and had to repeat this process about 30 times or more to do the work on ebay. In short, I had to reboot and go back to my email and ebay to do this.

i also check event viewer which showed a warning relating to TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the the number of concurrent TEC connections. would this be anything to do with it?

thanks

If I didn't think it were important, I wouldn't have asked for it. I guess you don't understand the difference between internal & external IPs, since you're afraid to post it.

Remove the connection limit. See what happens.

i just want a fluent connection to get on with my ebay
hope you can give me instructions.
thanks

That's a good question. I have no idea what program is limiting the connections.

Open the task manager. Maybe you'll see the name there. If not, run hijack this & post the output.

ipconfig seems ok. If you want to run hijack this, I'll be glad to look at the log.

Look at the task manager in the meantime. You may see something running that you don't want.

hi guapo
i've solved the problem. it was "zone alarm".
everytime i rebooted, i got 2 error messages on screen - c:\program files\zonelabs\zlclient.exe (Validation failed for c:\windows\system32\vsinit.dll and c:\program files\zonelabs\zlclient.exe ((Validation failed for c:\windows\system32\vsdata.dll. zonealarm was on the laptop before i acquired it. I had downloaded the latest free version of zonealarm but it would not install as the problem with the old zonealarm version had to be resolved first. the error message told me "You are probably missing a necessary root certificate". i went to the zonealarm website and typed "root certificate" in the search field for troubleshooting and it basically said to change the computer date prior to 15 July 2009 which I did, and then uninstall zonealarm. after a reboot the internet is connecting fine now. I keep getting the security certificate up on ebay etc. just wondered which settings i change to stop these flagging up. hope to hear from you. thanks for your support. danny1234.
p.s. on my dell dimension, im unable to change the boot sequence (F2) to start boot up from cd as im hoping to obtain an xp cd and do a clean install. is there a way of changing the boot sequence in the bios if I don't have the admin password? i have posted a separate post if you could assist. thanks

Search google for default bios passwords.

I'm glad to hear you solved the connection problem. Zone Alarm & Norton have been known to do things like that.

Take a look at Tools, Internet Options, Content, Certificates. There maybe a setting there.
