have internet acces but can't use it

August 29, 2012 at 10:37:04
Specs: Windows 7
one computer I can add the internet but other computers can not. I've tried different methods, but it can not.
I think that one computer is connected to the internet and one cable does not allow to add other computers. I am the gate with ip address, which would be 111.111.111.111 to join a single computer, while the other does not pass its IP address, but running with different ip address like 111.111.111.112
I don't know how to connect 2 computers with one ip.
sorry about my english, i use google translater because i suck at english :D

You can not add computers to the internet unless you have a router.
You can not use the same ip on two machines.

Appears you need to buy a router. Best of luck.

You have it connected properly?
Is it new or used?

Like so:
internet modem<>router<>pcs

Did you logon to the router and set it up like the manual guides you?

You misunderstand how to do this.

pcs are set to "obtain ip address automatically". This is done in tcp/ip properties.

the router is set to be a dhcp server so it gives the pcs a ip address usually in the 192.168.x.x subnet. This takes care of the lan.

Your public ip goes on the wan interface of the router. I am guessing this is what you are referring to for the 111.111.111.111 ip address [clearly not a real ip address]

Post the results of a ipconfig /all from each for review.
go to ipchicken.com and post what it says is your ip address. x out the first octet like so xxx.168.1.2

did you configure the routers dhcp server?
are your pcs set to obtain ip automatically?
make /model of router?
