groupwise: Trashed emails are they recoverable after deleted

Specs: Windows Vista
Personal Emails sent from work a complaint came in to my work that I abused the email system. The employers are now investigating and want to recover all the emails I sent from the work email.. Can they recover my emails on their back up going back six months.
I trashed them and then emptyed my trash. Can these emails be recovered from back up. These emails are very private.

It depends on how far their backups go. Just because you trashed them on your machine doesn't matter.

Why would you send private emails using the work server especially without encryption?

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

It is possible, depending on how their system works. Since they found out you're abusing the mail system, I think they might have some kind of logging when you send mail through the system. Deleting mails on your computer won't work then, and it is still possible to recover them from your computer as well as the server if they're really serious about it.

Why would you use work mail system for private use anyway if you can have public mail hosts ?
