GPO not working on clients

Specs: Windows XP
For some reason group policy that has been running fine for over a year, has suddenly stopped working. I have AD set up with 400 users, a GPO set for these users and for no apparent reason the GPO fails to download and apply to clients as they login. AD seems to be working fine. I have tried creating a new OU, with a new user and a new GPO on the OU but that doesn't work either. Any ideas??

Did any updates run the night before, especially the dreaded Norton?
