Iam sadly still on a dialup internet service . I have been with the company that provides my dial up service for years . They now offer DSL and for the only $6.00 increase in price Iam going for it . I cannot get cable internet due to the location of my PC + the price is more then I could pay at this time . My ? is my PC came withy a Intel Pro/1000 Ethernet ,as of now I have it disabled in device manager becasue Iam not using it . When I recieve my DSL modem it says to plug it into RJ45 jack at the rear of my PC ? My ? is do I need to re-enable the ethernet in order for the DSL modem to work I believe the RJ45 jack is for the ethernet/networking ,I have the drivers for the ethernet on CD ,incase I must re-install them . My PC is a DEll and I have all the drivers are on a CD labled the Utilities and Drivers CD ! I would greatly appriciate any input helping me with this setup for the DSL service !
Thanks to All

Yes, you have to enable the ethernet port & yes, you have to install the network drivers. I don't know why you disabled it in the 1st placed...even though it was unused, it would have done no harm keeping it enabled & it in no way slows the system.

If you disabled it in the BIOS, go back & enable it. Re-enable it in Device Manager, then install the drivers. And since you've had this system for a couple of years(?) now, there are probably updated drivers available.

It might just get re-installed with the last driver just after you enable it..
Dunno if MS offers intel drivers but maybe. If not go to intel for latest.
