Foreign Internet service interfering

Specs: Windows XP
My daughter just gave me her Compaq Presario SR1390RS computer. I installed Cricket Wireless Broadband Internet Service on it. Then another internet service started connecting to my computer with no modem, messing up my Cricket service. The other software installing itself is Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem, I can go to bed, put my computer on standby. Start my computer the next morning (this has happened 3 times that I have observed, many more times that I had not) it is installing itself. I have went everywhere,Control Panel for add/remove and removed it, besides other location you can go to. This software keeps coming back on it's own. Can anybody help me. It is driving me crazy, settings in my computer gets changed, I lose Cricket service, have to go to Cricket Customer Service so many times to help me to set everything back, just to have this software to appear again and mess up my Cricket service all over again. How can I get it completely our of my system so it does not disrup my Cricket service anymore.

Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem is not an Internet service. It is a software drive for a dial-up MODEM as you probably have an Internal Modem installed which you don't need if you have wireless. Every time you boot the Operating System is Automatically installing this driver as it is supposed to do. However, it can interfere with you current Internet Connection.

You need to either remove the Internal Modem or if it is embedded on the motherboard, disable it in the BIOS. Once you have done that you can uninstall the software and you should never see it again.
