create a hosts file. Put their domain name in with 127.0.0.1. Save the file as hosts with no extension. Anything from that domain goes to the bit bucket in the sky.

At some point contacting spammers only tells them they have a live address. You're better off with an email service that runs a good filtering system. And as much as possible practice safe surfing.

Wanderer - will the hosts file really filter email? I would think not, since the connection is only to the user's own account.

Good point paul1149. You certainly raised a question I will have to investigate.

I was just thinking domain names. My thought was anything coming from that domain, whether email or internet popups would be redirected by the hosts file. Hosts file is not port specific so anything from that domain name should get sent to the bit bucket.

Of course you could just create a email rule that send that stuff to the deleted folder.

Any installed spam filter would also take care of it.

I use filtering within my email software to kill spam.

I have one filter, any of the following words in the "subject" line and the email goes straight into the trash folder to be deleted when I close my email client:

"cialis, viagra, penis, w@tch, replica, r3plica, repl1ca, r3pl1ca," etc etc

Whenever a new spam makes it through, I add it to an existing filter, or create a new one.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
