Specs: Windows XP
Hi there,

I have a windows 2003 sbs sytem with no AD and connectted to it is a number of Win XP Home systems.

I have created a folder on the 2003SBS and want to share it with selected users but it must be password proctected and hopefully will allow the user(s) the ability to change the initial/default password to one of their own.

Sharing the folder is easy but implementing password protection seems impossible.,

Can anyone help.

Jerbear.

Since you can't join XP Home to a .local domain, you need to create a work group. Did you do that?

Yes, I can share the folders, but I can't seem to setup any form of security on them.
I need them to be password protected.!

This isn't windows 98. It requires 3rd party software to password protect folders which is not the same way servers handle file/folder access. Servers handle it thru authenication [logon and password] to then get their assigned rights to files and folders.
