Expand Wireless access point Coverage

Specs: Windows XP, Xeon X3440 / 4 GB
Currently I am using a Tenda W268R router for my wireless N network setup, and everything is working well except for some areas of my house which is a bit large. To alleviate these dead or weak spots, I plan on installing another W268R router as an either an access point or wireless repeater.

My question contains two parts.

1. If I am using as access point, can the SSID be the same as the wireless router's or must each device have a unique SSID? Do I need to be concerned with the Default Gateway?

2. If I am using as wireless repeater, can the SSID be the same as the wireless router's or must each device have a unique SSID? Do I need to be concerned with the Default Gateway?

And any other concerns?

Thanks for your thoughts.

You could use the same SSID but it would be advisable to use different ones. The SSID uniquely identifies the Wireless Access Point. You will get terribly confused as to which is which if the both have the same SSID and they both appear in the network list which is likely to happen.

Of course you need to be concerned with the default gateway. You wont get on the Internet without it.
