|I have a computer that has trouble connecting to other computers via LAN using a crossover cable (I haven’t tried it with a hub.) The LAN status always (or every time I look) says "limited or no connectivity" on both the problem computer and any computer connected. Approximately half of the time I can access files on another computer in the workgroup. The other half of the time I cannot see any other computers in the workgroup and get the “Workgroup is not accessible…” error. The weird part is that, at all times, other computers can see the shared folders on the problem computer and can read/write to it without a problem even though those computers still report “limited or no connectivity.” I am almost certain it is not a hardware issue because the network card has no trouble connecting to the Internet.|
Just to throw in another example of the same problem… I often use this computer to play LAN games with a friend of mine. Half the time it works fine. Half the time the game name will show up, but he will not be able to connect no matter which computer is the host.
I’ve never seen this problem, and I have no idea how to fix this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
