Duplicate ip in all PCs in a subnet

Specs: vista
ALL the computer of our labs which use vista get the duplicate IP message after getting restart once. The IPs are not duplicate and the same computers work properly with the same IPs when we run Linux on them.

Is everything on the same subnet? Is DHCP on the server or the router? As you already know, it can't be running in two places at the same time. That could certainly cause it.

Yes all PCs are in the same subnet and IPs are assigned
statistically. There is not any DHCP server.

That's good. I like to use static IPs too.

When you run Linux on them, how are you assigning the IP addresses? Are you using the ifconfig command? Linux isn't reading the IP from Windows.
