|Hi, wondering if anyone can help. |
Last week i installed a new cisco router for a cable connection (using a splitter).
I have up to 4 devices connecting wirelessly to it and 3 of them are working fine. That includes a win xp desktop pc.
My laptop however is giving me grief: at the start it would connect to the router but not the internet. Then i saw skype was working but i could not load any web pages. Finally narrowed it down to dns issues.
I flushed dns and that worked for a while until i switched off the machine - when i restarted the next day, i had the same Problem. Then i took the dns values from my network config and entered them manually to the wireless properties on my machine. Again, that worked fine till the next restart. I also assigned a static ip to my laptop, no change.
I can ping IPs, but not names.
I should also mention that everything works ok when i use an ethernet cable.
I've disabled the windows firewall and only have AVG installed - when i temporarily disable AVG, it makes no difference.
I have also run a few scans, but found no virus/problems.
Now when i use nslookup, i get the following:
DNS request timed out. Timeout was 2 seconds...
I've been at this for the last 4 days, trying any possible solution i can find or think of.
Any ideas, me and my sanity will be eternally grateful!
