Our office network has a D-Link DWL-G700AP for wireless access for laptops. Since we added one laptop with Windows 7, which connects perfectly every time to the internet, our laptops with Windows XP (and one iPad) connect with local access only. What needs to be changed to allow the Windows XP laptops to connect to the internet?
Check, whether the laptop with windows 7 installed, is not configured for a static ip address. The original poster should always write the last response !!!
Let us know, if the problem is solved !!!
No, the laptop with Windows 7 is not configured for a static ip address. I did uncheck the iPv6 protocol in the Windows 7 laptop, and today the XP laptop is able to connect to the internet while the Windows 7 is connected. I'm not sure if that is the correct solution to the problem but it is working for now; have not checked the iPad yet.
Thanks ! It worked for me. Same situation. Turn on the W7 machine and pretty soon no one can see the router. Reboot the router and it woudl stay up until the W7 machine connected / reconnected.
