DLINK Router Problems

July 26, 2010 at 02:59:06
Specs: Windows Vista, Core 2 Duo / 4 GB
When I scan for wireless networks I pick up DLINK_WIRELESS with a signal strength of "good" (3 bars)
Radio Type: 802.11G
Security Type: Unsecured
SSID: DLINK_WIRELESS

When I click connect, it goes through the connection screen to yield " Windows Cannot Connect to DLINK_WIRELESS "

what could be the problem?

I'm using Intel 4965 Adapter on my laptop, and the router I do not know because I don't have access to it. (Its locked in the landlords room, he's gone on vacation for 2 months)

I've connected to it for the past 2 days, but just suddenly this morning it did not work.. please help!

I hope I dont have to restart it as I do not have physical access to the router.... or could it be something else?

When I checked with CommView (network analyser), it showed packets in: 3868
of which 135 was Data and Mngt was 3473, Ctrl was 362... does that mean routers not connected to internet?

It's too bad you don't have access, my first suggestion would be to recycle the power on it.

So, why don't you have access?

If you're by chance, connecting to someone elses unsecured wireless network and suddenly you can't, it may be they figured it out and have secured it to block you, in which case you'll have to go out and get your own internet connection.

Sounds like the router itself is having some major issues. But, if you can't access it, you're kind of screwed aren't you.

Wish I could help but.................
