Dell 1110 cant prt frm remote cpu

Specs: Windows XP, 2 gb
This is killing me. I just purchased a Dell lazer 1110 (tired of buying ink). I have a wireles netwk w/ 2 laptops & 1 deskside. All XP Home ed ver 5.1.2600 w/ SP2 build 2600. Linksys rtr.

I was using an HP 5651 w/o any problems in this config for years. I removeed the HP app, deleted the printer and deleted the drivers from control panel. Cleaned eveything out on both laptop and deskside. Installed from Dell CD onto deskside. Set prtr to share. Used add printer wizard to add Lazer prtr from laptop. Success install msg but "print test page" failed. I've spent hours on this, including talking to Dell. (their answer was it worked okay in their office" great and the lightbulb in my lamp works so yours should be okay too!

Can anyone hoffer help, a pointer (i altready know a pantload bout installing netwk prtrs so nothing trivial pls) or have a similar problem.

Nxt step will probably be to reinstall old HP and buy more ink

What about firewalls? Disable them temporarily.

Open the run box on one of the other machines, type \\192.168...whatever the IP of the machine with the printer is & press enter. Do you see the printer in the shares?

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

Nope it ain't firewalls. Strange thing is when I set up the printer attached to WINXP Pro deskside system I cant print from a remote cpu running WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. BUT when I use WINXP Home on a laptop as the local prtr and try to print from WINXP Pro system
it works fine!!!!!

You still didn't answer my question about viewing the shares.
