August 19, 2016 at 06:14:05
Specs: windows 10
slow connecting to earthlink
when i try and connect to my earthlink homepage, it sometimes takes a long time.
in the lower left hand corner of the screen, it keeps showing websites - they appear and then gone and the next one shows up - maybe 8 or 9 different ones.
also slow connecting to email at earthlink.
sometimes message appears that website could not be found - but it is a good website - or it timed out
would appreciate some help - thanks

John

If you wish you could try IE Reset:

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button.
It will remove your IE addons but they soon come back with usage. It might reset your home page too but that is easy to fix (just note its address). Your favorites will not be affected.

Reset can fix many IE problems so it might help the typing hesitation.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

What browser are you using?

Just for diagnostic purposes, try an alternative browser. (which can be uninstalled later if you wish). This will tell us whether or not it is a browser issue.

Is the Earthlink website the only one you have this trouble with?

Try resetting your Router and Modem (pull plug, wait 30 seconds and plug in again). Try running an internet speed test, there are many available online, choose one located fairly near you. If your ISP is Earthlink, contact their tech support for their help. If your internet is through your cable TV provider check all interior and exterior cable connectors and splitters.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have been using ie and sometimes when I type something in there is a hesitation in the letters showing up - or I have to type some of them in a second time for them to appear on screen.
I also get "this page cannot be displayed" but when I hit f5 button the screen appears. Hope you have some ideas on this.
Thanks for your help so far.
I am using in private mode on ie.

Are you saying you have had this problem with Earthlink on both IE and some other browser? I am trying to determine whether this is a browser issue, as per #1. Then we can move forward.

Run Disk Clean Up on your C drive, select all when running.
Check your browser for add ons, if you have not specifically not installed anything you see, disable or uninstall everything else.
If these do not help, you may need to reset your browser (IE) or try another browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.)

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
