Does the mac have wireless n? They might make a cheap usb N wireless adapter if not.

looked in preferences but not finding anything. Let's assume
the answer is yes. What's the next step?

If you can connect to it wireless then you would need to get the software from HP for that printer on mac os.

First let me say thanks for your responses. What I am
understanding is that I can fire up the router and see if the
computer sees it and visaversa. If so, proceed to connecting
the printer.
Again thanks for your responses. Not sure why the modem
seems to be so intregal a part of the network.

MacbookRon it's a bit more complicated than that since you are getting internet via one wireless card.

You need an additional wireless card to connect to wireless printer.

You do not need the wireless router whatsoever. Your wireless card and wireless printer have to be configured for a ip subnet that is different than your wireless internet or you will lose internet connectivity.

The wireless is a Verison 3g card. It is not a 802 card. It has nothing to do with your ability to configure an 802 wireless in your home. The only part that is the same in both is the wireless word. Your air card is a cell phone type of transmitter and receiver. The N wireless is a local area network adapter.
